Protection is the step that gets dropped when a shop is running nine cars a day, and it is the one that decides how your paint looks in six months. A machine-applied sealant adds depth, makes the surface slick, and gives dirt and salt far less to hold onto.

Decontamination first
Clay bar and chemical decon. Sealing over bonded contamination locks it in and wastes the product.
Machine application
Applied by machine rather than by hand, so the layer is even and thin instead of streaked and thick.
Water spot removal
Hard water etching from sprinklers and hoses treated as part of the prep, not left under the sealant.
Trim and glass
Glass sealed for better visibility in rain, and exterior trim dressed so it does not chalk out.

Wash & decon
Two-bucket wash, iron and tar removal, clay bar.

Water spots and light etching addressed before anything is sealed.

Machine application, then leveled and buffed off.

Glass, tires and trim, then an inspection in direct light.
Is this just an upsell on the full detail?
It is a real, separate step — and it is the one the questionnaire-answer version of us would have skipped. A full detail cleans your paint. This protects it. If you only do one of them twice a year, do this one in the fall before the salt starts.
About wax & sealant.
Wax is a natural product that gives a warm depth and lasts a couple of months. A synthetic sealant lasts four to six and holds up far better against salt. For Iowa we recommend the sealant, and we can layer wax on top if you want the look.
Duration and hardness. A sealant is months; a coating is years and is a genuinely harder surface. A sealant is the right call if you are not ready for the coating investment or you change vehicles often.
Yes. Unlike correction and coatings, sealant work travels fine as long as we have a shaded, reasonably still spot.
